Poem: “Remember”

“Remember” by Capucine Berney

Can you remember?
When yesterday was your childhood
Your smile could not be hammered
And your mind would drift to anywhere it could

But you’re older now
Play time no more
You don’t know how
You think it’s over
Oh, the truth reveals itself

The growing keeps growing from young to old
The time goes faster every day
As you get older, so I’ve been told
These childhood things become harder to say

Because you forget
I don’t know about you, but I’m scared I won’t remember

Can you remember?

Laughing broke into crying

But your happiness won sadness over

And your tears came to an end in toothless singing

But you’re older now

Play time no more

You don’t know how

You think it’s over

Oh, the truth reveals itself

The growing keeps growing from young to old

The time goes faster every day

As you get older, so I’ve been told

These childhood things become harder to say

Because you forget

I don’t know about you, but I’m scared I won’t remember

Just think about it

Please think about it

Hold onto it

Please try

Because…

The growing keeps growing from young to old

The time goes faster every day
